Before
going into business for herself, Liza provided community mosaic
workshops for the
Julian Center - a domestic violence shelter and women's
counseling center in Indianapolis for a number of years. The
focus of these workshops was to raise public awareness to Domestic
Violence Issues. School groups, churches, businesses,
colleges, and civic groups from around central Indiana participated
in these workshops and learned about Domestic Violence by creating
mosaics depicting how life can heal after the experience of violence
in the home. Shelter residents and counseling center clients
also created mosaics during these projects. OVER 70 mosaics
were made and these became permanent art which are displayed at the
Julian Center
as well as in other places throughout Central Indiana.
Liza is available to work with any domestic violence agency interested in creating their own Domestic Violence Awareness Mosaics.
